Two key retailers have dropped the iPhone 5c price, and some think this may be a game-changer. ABC News shared the details on Oct. 4. Will the new $45 and $50 price-points bring in the customers?
Best Buy announced Thursday it would be dropping the iPhone 5c price to $50 with a two-year contract, Walmart quickly followed suit. The giant retailer will be offering their iPhone 5c for $45, at least through the holiday season. This is with a two-year contract as well. Apple's original suggested price on the new model is $99.
Walmart already was offering this new model slightly below Apple's suggested retail at a price of $79, but the drop to $45 may well rake in the customers. Many tech experts and customers simply thought that $99 was too high given the iPhone 5c's differences compared to other models. The higher-end iPhone 5s is sold out at many retail locations, particularly those with the gold finish.
Will the lower prices get people excited for the iPhone 5c? Will this new foray into the product line succeed and stick around, or will it die a slow death?
