Wall Township rescuer arrested for stuffing cocker spaniel in garbage bag

An eight-year-old cocker spaniel, so matted and filthy he couldn't even walk or stand was discovered stuffed in a garbage bag Thursday on Belmar Ave. in Wall Township, N.J. by a supposed Good Samaritan. Sadly things aren't always as they seem. His rescuer may very well have been his owner and the very people who abandoned this defenseless dog. On Friday, police arrested Keith Morgan and his wife for alleged animal cruelty.

Both Morgan and his wife Shauna told authorities they found the dog stuffed in a garbage bag lying on the side of the road. The dog was taken to the Associated Humane Society in Tinton Falls where he was cleaned up and shaved.

Named Morgan, after his alleged rescuers, the dog is currently at a veterinary hospital and is being fed through a feeding tube. His condition remains serious.

"It's just shocking to think this man may have just been acting so sorry for the dog when in reality it was his dog? If that isn't the most despicable thing I've ever heard of it, I am just sick about it," stated Carolyn Testa, vacationing in Florida from Dayton, Ohio.

Everyone is hoping you recover Morgan. Please be a fighter.
