This past week, Wall Street Rocks held its 2013 Battle of the Bands Finale at Irving Plaza. Proceeds from the event went to Wounded Warrior Project, ReserveAid and Operation Finally Home. Special guests in attendance included Mike Piazza, Stephen Baldwin, Madame Mayhem, and Billy Morrissey. Wall Street Rocks Co-founders Leslie Kirby, James Macedonio, George Chrisafis and Peter Carrara also welcomed guests at a special VIP reception prior to the band lineup.
The event, hosted by Eddie Trunk from VH1 Classic, started with a set by Peter Carrara’s band, The Darrens, which gave momentum for the performances that followed. Battle contender Big Dog Party then came to the stage and put on an amazing show. The other battle contender, Riffhanger, equally put on an incredible performance. The night closed out with a high-energy set by Mark McGrath and his band Sugar Ray. What a special treat!
I had a chance to chat with Mark McGrath and it was impressive to see what a humble and grateful person he is. Mark got involved with the event because he wants to help in the initiative to bring more awareness about veterans and show his gratitude for their service. He’s been on a '90s tour with his band for the last few summers and he’ll be hosting Killer Karaoke starting in February. His energy is contagious!
Looking forward to next year’s Wall Street Rocks Battle of the Bands!
