On November 16, thousands of walker and runners will come together at Riverside Park to support this movement. Registration is free and both runners and walkers will meet at 103rd Street and Riverside Drive.
Not only can you help by setting a sing of your support by participating in the walk, but you can also donate or sponsor a walker/runner directly. You also have the opportunity to be a volunteer at the event. Take a look at the Best Buddies Walk website to find out more.
The Best Buddies program is an international program that aims at creating 'opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)', according to their website.
The program educates across various platforms, in Middle and High Schools as well as community members and employers how to successfully integrate people with IDD.
Directions to Riverside Park: Subway: Take the 1 train to 103rd Street and walk east toward Riverside Park. Driving is not suggested, since finding a parking spot in the weekend can prove to be tricky.
