What happens when you mix cutting edge 3D, dinosaurs, and a couple hundred 2nd graders? A little bit of Jurassic goodness and a whole lot of fun thanks to the stars of the upcoming "Walking with Dinosaurs" movie at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.

Leading actor and all around good guy John Leguizamo stars as Alex (short for prehistoric bird Alexornis), one of many dinosaurs who have to escape mother nature and dinosaur predators on the way to their new home. As the release date approaches, the film is already receiving rave reviews for it's realism. Of course, nothing was as real as the authentic dinosaur bones at the museum near downtown L.A. The event taking place in L.A's hallowed halls of history wasn't lost on the actor as he is also fond of museums. "I've been to the Louvre this year in Paris with my kids. We did a whole tour. We went to the Monet in Paris. I do a lot of museums."

Not only did the museum have special exhibits explaining the life (and possible death) of our prehistoric brethren, but there were also two hundred local 2nd graders invited along to celebrate the exhibit and the film. As if that weren't enough, Leguizamo's kids invited their class to attend a screening. Appearing in what could be the ultimate period piece, the actor known for his eclectic film choices wasn't shy about taking a trip through time again.

"There's a lot of great Latin historical characters I'd like to portray," said Leguizamo. "We've been contributing to this country since the revolutionary days. There's a general in New Orleans that fought the British over there and stopped them from getting supplies."

In addition to the red carpet for stars John Leguizamo, Tiya Sircar, and Skyler Stone, the Dinosaur Hall exhibit also featured dinosaur experts to explain what life was like in Jurassic times, craft activities and more fossils than you could shake a stick at. There was also a green screen photo app for those who would like to take a picture with one of the characters form the film, which can be found here.

"Walking with Dinosaurs" opens nationwide on December 20th. The Dinosaur Hall exhibit is currently ongoing at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum located at 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles, 90007
