The season finale of "Walking Dead" is fast approaching and fans have already begun to speculate which of the characters will be the one to die. On March 13 Slate Magazine says that of the prison group, the most logical choice is Hershel. Here are some of the many reasons why.
In previous spoilers, Greg Nicotero already claimed that someone is going to die, it's inevitable. While he didn't say who, obviously The Governor is an obvious choice. From Rick's group at the prison, the choice is not so clear. The only thing that fans have heard is that Carl is the only one safe. This is likely because it would be too harsh to kill him off just after Sophia died in season two. This is also likely the reason that Judith will live as well. Beth is the matronly daughter of Hershel who has been the baby's handler for most of her life. She will likely stay secluded in the prison with the baby and Carl once the war begins to protect them both.
Daryl won't end up being the one to die because he is the fan favorite of the show. If Daryl Dixon gets killed off, fans will riot. Laurie Holden already receives death threats because of an episode where Andrea grazed Daryl with a bullet. Carol won't be the one because fans are too intrigued by the "will they or won't they" between her and Daryl. It makes the show a little less harsh to see their awkward love blossom.
Glenn and Maggie have been through so much already this season that it is unlikely they will be the ones to go. However, Glenn's rage against the Governor could end up getting him killed if he isn't careful. Most fans like the relief, although brief they provide from the harsh post apocalyptic world.
Rick may be in his own little world doing his own thing, which he may never recover from, however, he hasn't led the group astray yet. While he is tormented without any help, he likely won't die because nobody else really wants to lead.
Michonne is the new comer to the group and has only recently began to come out of her shell. She is a demon with her sword and a complete terminator that is taking names and not waiting around to find out anything. She likely won't die yet because she seems useful for many things. While Andrea could be a good choice because she is a traitor to both camps, she spent significant time with Michonne and has likely learned a thing or two from her that will end up saving her life.
This leaves Hershel. He has one leg. While he tries to help, he still can't really get around without crutches. This makes him a liability because he can't get away as fast from walkers, gunfire, or otherwise. He is the oldest of the group therefore, if he were to get sick, unfortunately he likely wouldn't get the help he needed or his immune system could be weakened because of his older age. While he is a veterinarian and can provide some medical knowledge that applies to humans, he will still likely die.
What do you think of these odds? Who do you think should be the one to go?
