A “Walking Dead” spinoff is the latest AMC spinoff that TV producers are working on, and though the cast and story still remains unknown, the series is expected to come this 2015 as a “new corner of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe, said creator Robert Kirkman. According to UPI.com this Monday, Sept. 16, the spinoff is expected to be another huge hit behind the success of the original AMC series.
The “Walking Dead” spinoff comes to many fans only weeks after it was announced that a spinoff to “Breaking Bad” called “Better Call Saul” was on the way, and now a related TV series for “The Walking Dead” is also beginning its first stages of development. AMC confirmed this most recent series this Monday afternoon.
Fans of “The Walking Dead” are in good hands, too, as creator Robert Kirkman is back on for the sequel series as executive producer. At this point, it is also rumored that David Alpert and Gale Anne Hurd will also be working as producers.
Although a new story and new cast for the “Walking Dead” spinoff have also been confirmed, the exact title and details surrounding the series have not been revealed quite yet.
“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” AMC president Charlie Collier said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
Kirkman also had his own choice words on the hotly anticipated series expected this 2015.
“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of 'The Walking Dead' universe ... The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
“The Walking Dead” Season 4 hits TVs this October 13, and the spinoff is set for this 2015. Are you ready?
