'Walking Dead' recap: Rick finally jumps off the crazy train

When your pre-pubescent child says you need to let someone else take over leadership, you've got some problems -- problems on top of being trapped in an abandoned prison with zombies all around and a deranged Jim Jones-type character that wants to kill all of you. But that's where former officer Rick Grimes found himself before the opening credits of Sunday night's "The Walking Dead."

Fortunately, it seems to have served as that slap in the face he needed for the last several episodes. You can all let your breath out now, at least a little.

Andrea goes on a peace-making mission to see her former gang, as correctly predicted in my spoilers, thank you. She confides in Milton, who starts out helping her get to the prison, but after a run-in with walkers and the small gang Rick kicked out last week, Milton takes them back to Woodbury. Andrea pulls a Michonne and takes a pet zombie to act as a cover for navigating through other walkers unnoticed.

Well, except a stray hammer to the face every now and then.

So Andrea approaches the prison with her pet walker on a leash, and while Team Rick helps her get in safely, they aren't too pleased or trusting of their old friend. Her boyfriend goes on a gangsta-style shooting spree and she really expects them not to pat her down and train their guns on her? Really?

Rick lets Andrea know that they didn't throw the first stone in this battle and finally puts down the guns and lets her hold little Judith. Carol, who has a few issues with the male of the species, offers up a great plan. Just give The Gov a dreamy night of post-apocalyptic lovin', then stab him in his sleep, or, as "The Talking Dead" host Chris Hardwick called it, "the old poke and stab." Problem solved.

Andrea returns to Woodbury, gets her freak on with The Gov after telling him exactly what she has done, and he sleeps next to her, without a hint of worry. Meanwhile, Andrea gets her knife out, but after staring at her wacko boyfriend, changes her mind. I guess that makes her the Judas of the episode. And perhaps the craziest of them all.

Speaking of which, after Carl telling him to give up leadership, and a good scolding from Herschel, Rick seems to be thinking clearly and stepping up again, sans Lori's ghost. He decides he's going to make a run for more supplies and guns, so they can make their stand. He even finally holds his dang baby, for once.

And they'll have to, unless Andrea turns on her sugar Daddy.
