Walkin the Line Band proves that you don't have to be a rock star to make a living in the music business in Boston. The thriving music scene and college influence in Boston keeps the city jumping most nights. Walkin the Line plays out four plus times a week and is one of the leading country bands in New England covering original material and top 40 modern country hits.
Led by Ashley Hewitt on lead vocals and fiddle along with Kevin White on rhythm guitar and vocals, they keep people tapping their feet and most often, up on the dance floor.
Examiner met with the band at their show at Toby Keith's in Foxboro, a venue where they play often. Line dancing takes over the dance floor and loud laughter comes from the mechanical bull where more often than not, someone gets tossed.
Hewitt has been playing fiddle since the age of three. "A high light of my career was opening for Lorrie Morgan and Charlie Daniels," said Hewitt. "My background is musical theatre, opera, pop, classical and country."
"Performing an original song and working with my favorite band has satisfied my musical urges," said White, " I love what I do because it's not work." White has also performed in Disneyworld as Garth Brooks and recently won the New Hampshire Country Music Association award for vocalist and entertainer.
Stephen Dionne on lead guitar and vocals is no stranger to the Boston music scene. He's been playing with national acts since 1990 with his first arena show playing in front of 13,000 people with the Eddie Money Band. Dionne has just recorded an album with his original heavy metal - hard rock band called "Bigtalkahh." The band took home "Best Metal Act of 2013" from Limelight Magazine.
On bass is Berklee College of Music 2010 graduate, Jordan Alegant whose influences range from metal, folk, pop, jazz and country. Alegant grew up in a musical family with his dad, a classical pianist and mom, a choir teacher.
John Repucci on drums is also no stranger to the music industry. His father was a professor at Berklee College of Music and a well known jazz bass player. Repucci wanted to play drums at a young age and continues to do so with the same enthusiasm whether playing for 20 or 2,000.
Upcoming dates and venues for the band include Jerry Reming's and West End Johnny's - Boston, Toby Keith's - Foxboro, Bentley's in Arundel, Maine. For further information check the bands website: www.walkinthelineband.com and find them on Facebook.
