Just days after her worst outing of the year, Crosby Lady Cougars ace Abby Walker hurled a no-hitter against the Summer Creek Lady Bulldogs in an 18-0 win road win.
Crosby left little doubt as to how this night would go scoring 12 times in the first three innings. Catcher Ariel Clogston clubbed home runs in both the first and second innings driving home six Lady Cougars. Lead-off hitter went a perfect four for four with four rbi's to back Walker's 13 strikeout one walk performance.
Crosby led 12-0 with two outs in the third when Mother Nature interrupted Walker's no-hit performance. Not even a weather delay could cool off Walker's dominating right arm. The hard throwing senior hurler struck out ten of the first twelve batters she faced and only a two out walk to Heaven Flores in the fifth spoiled a perfect game. Walker helped herself offensively with three hits in four trips to the plate including a run scored and an rbi.
The Lady Cougars 16 hit attack was helped along by shortstop Amanda McMahan's three hit, three runs scored, two hits, three runs scored from senior Alexis Balderrama, and solo hits from ALex Bishop and Tessa Mooneyham.
Having a had a rough go recently with close games, head coach Troy Fox was glad to see everything come together.
"Any time you strikeout 13 of 16 batters, you've had a great game," said Fox. "Abby has been throwing well for us this year, we finally got the bats going throughout the line up an gave her the run support. It was a great team win."
