Walking is one of the best exercises we can do for ourselves. Plus, you don’t have to worry about being completely in shape to start walking. Most people can begin a walking program today, even if it is only a few steps. Knowing how vital walking is and to help people get motivated, Dr. David Sabgir, Cardiologist, along with many other health care specialists got together to form the Walk With A Doc Program.

What is Walk With a Doc Program?

It is a group of health care specialists, Dr. David Sabgir, and fellow walkers who get together every Saturday at 8:00 am, rain or shine, at the Highbanks Metro Park in Lewis Center, Ohio. Together, they explore the trails. They also offer walkers free of charge: healthy snacks, pedometers, blood pressure checks, information on lifestyle changes and the opportunity to talk to the physicians.

What are the benefits of adding a walking program to your regime?

Even if you can’t join the Walk the Doc program, you should be walking. If you are only able to schedule a weekly walk into your routine, it will help your health, a little.

Some healthy benefits you may enjoy from walking can include:

  • Experiencing more overall energy
  • Feeling less tired
  • Decreasing your levels of stress
  • Helping you to lose weight
  • Improving your circulation
  • Lowering both your cholesterol and blood pressure levels

If you think you could benefit from a walking program check with your local physician, health center, online groups such as Craigslist for possibly listings in you area.

The hardest part is getting out the door to take that walk, but we feel so much better after we do.

How great that you all have this. I'm going to have to check if we have a walk program here. You would think we would have one since we are in Florida!
