The 13th Annual Barry Crown Walk for the Animals benefiting Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League happens Saturday, March 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Downtown at the Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.
Are you ready to walk for the animals and show everyone how we appreciate all of our four-legged friends? (and sometimes not even with four-legs)
Planned is a scenic one-mile walk around Lake Victoria, and fear not if you're thirsty along the way, because Aid Stations are there to serve water. There will even be entertainment as you make your way around the route.
Mark Zisk, Dion, and Little Frankie have once again formed a team. Called the "Dogs of Jupiter Beach" this will be their third year participating in the walk.
Come join this exciting team for the walk. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary.
Dion happens to be a tiny 15-year-old Yorkshire terrier, who for the last 12 years sits in a bicycle basket as his human Mark bike rides 20 to 30 miles daily along the beach. The half-pint adorable pooch greets runners, walkers, and tourists, and elicits the "oohs and aahs" of his constituents. Yes, Dion is the Dog Mayor of Jupiter Beach:
"A few years ago Dion entered politics and ran for the position as Mayor of the Beach. He actually campaigned, worked the beach and Facebook for votes, and won in a tough election. His platform was to promote the great beach that we have and to keep it dog friendly and the best dog beach in Florida. He is at the beach every day of the week, and looks after it as if it was his own."
Join animal lovers and advocates from all over Palm Beach County. Features of the morning include free breakfast, celebrity pet washing, demonstrations, pet vaccinations, and of course the "Adoption Take-Me-Home Zone."
Arrive early for special prizes, and be part of an amazing event.
And as Mark Zisk states after rescuing Little Frankie, another little Yorkie friend:
"Please come on board and enjoy the day with us. And don't forget to rescue your next four-legged friend. It's the best feeling in the world when you do. In our case, we rescued Frankie too, and at the same time, Little Frankie rescued us. Why shop when you can adopt?"
Downtown at the Gardens is located at 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens. (next to the Cheesecake Factory)
