Is Christianity still relevant? Christian families are living in the secular world, and for many, it is hard to live a Christ like lifestyle; not to mention how hard it can be to witness to the non-believer. They ask themselves, is Christianity still relevant in today’s world? Why should I bother to witness to others? For all of life’s big questions, we can turn to the Bible. So what does the Bible say about the relevance of Christianity and witnessing to others?

Human beings want every explained and mapped out. Theories are created. Scientists begin to look at molecules and atoms for the answers. The answers are in scripture. 1st Corinthians 2:14 states; “The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” For an unbeliever to truly understand the world, they first need to understand Christ. They need to be saved. This is why the Christianity remains relevant in a postmodern culture; because of Jesus Christ. This is why we witness to others; because of Jesus.

This is the great commission. Matthew 28:18-19 tells us; “Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

We are commissioned to be ambassadors for Christ. This is hard in today’s postmodern world. How can the Christian family witness to others? It’s simple. Talk to them. Invite another family to dinner, take a friend out for coffee, find time to study with a friend who does not know Jesus. We are commissioned to spread the Good News.
