Little Caesars Pizza
Yesterday when I was in Little Caesars Pizza on Evergreen at 12 Mile in Southfield, a young man came in asking were they hiring. The employee immediately began to take him through the employment process.
These days hiring is often done by applying online, emailing or faxing a resume, but Walk-Ins are still a great option. When a potential candidate walks in to a company looking for employment, it speaks volumes of that individual. Number one, it says, you are ready to work. Two, it shows you take initiative. And three, it shows you know what you want – and that you probably have transportation.
Walking in to see a company also gives the job candidate a bird’s eye view of the operation. You can scope out the atmosphere. You get to see first-hand the cleanliness and type of customer service the company provides. Basically, you can assess the company without them being aware.
No matter how you slice it, walking in to find employment is a great way to seek out employment. I would not recommend walking in if you know for a fact that the employer does not want walk ins.
Last note. Before you walk in, be prepared to interview on the spot – dress like you are ready to be hired!

Sima, this technique works wonders at smaller companies, which do not have a formalized HR process. These are the companies which most likely will never post a job in a paid posting. They also are typically run by the owner on site and have less then 50 employees.
The best way to find these employers are one of two ways: a) check your local area Chamber of Commerce website. Most have a directory of members. b) Let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages.
Like you mentioned, dress like you want to interview for the position, and have your work history with you and a resume, plus your list of references, and a pen. Show that you are prepared. Also, be prepared to focus on what you can do to help them, rather than what's in it for you. Save that for when they offer you the job.
You may be told they are not accepting apps, but all it takes is ONE place that's interested in you!!!
