Walk a Block for Jesus: Dill City Edition

The apostle Paul talked about running the good race. In just a week, Christians from western Oklahoma will be walking a good race to place gospels in every household in Dill City, Oklahoma.

The Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Burns Flat, Oklahoma announced today that the Walk a Block for Jesus conducted in May of this year would have a same year follow up. It is just a week away and time for people to preserve the date on their jammed packed calendars.

The church invites all those who believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior to come walk with them on Saturday morning, 26 July 2014. You do not need to be a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church to walk with us.

This is the 5th year for the Walk A Block for Jesus and it comes with a few extra components.

First off, this is part II to the Walk A Block for Jesus that was conducted in Burns Flat earlier this year. This is essentially a Bible Blitz as walkers will place a Gospel of John at every front door in town. It will include an note with an invitation to come and worship, and invitation to come and receive an entire Bible, and updates on community events such as helping children with school supplies and the Back to School Splash at the Burns Flat pool.

When walkers meet people who are out and about they will remind them that God loves them.

If anyone in Dill City wants a group to come inside their homes or gather on their front lawn and pray, they should email that request to Walk A Block for Jesus Prayer Request. People will stop by to pray with you and for you sometime that morning between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Prayer groups will not go into homes without an invitation, so that means that you can’t sign up your neighbor, but you can give them the 562-4706 phone number and tell them that a simple phone call will bring people to pray for them on July 26th.

Everything begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with briefings and blessings and organizing groups. Most groups will be walking by 9:30. All walkers need to be back at the church building by noon for sandwiches, pop, and testimonies. These encounters do change lives and that part of the story needs to be shared among participants.

There are a few support requirements if anyone wants to participate but can’t walk. See Tom Spence when you arrive Saturday morning.

In previous years, this event has included some very senior seniors and even children still in diapers and strollers. There is a place for everyone and everyone is invited.
