On Monday, January 21st, WALA-TV interrupted their regular programming sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to broadcast live programming from the Cable News Network (CNN) about the public ceremonies for the inaugurations of the president and the vice president of the United States. Before then, the station was broadcasting live network programming about the ceremonies from the FOX Broadcasting Company since they were a network for the company. By the time the station was broadcasting the programming from CNN, the FOX Broadcasting Company was no longer providing live network programming about the ceremonies to the station or any other network affiliate.
