According to WALA-TV and WPMI-TV, their news departments had the names of three persons who were shot to death at the Campus Quarters apartment complex in Mobile on Tuesday, December 10th, but they had different reasons for not having their names mentioned in their local newscasts or published on their official World Wide Web sites that day as part of their reports about their deaths. WALA-TV's reasoning was out of concern for relatives of the three persons who had not been notified about their deaths and WPMI-TV's reasoning was out of concern for the Mobile Police Department not having released the names of the persons to members of the general public before they could broadcast or publish them.
(update: the stations broadcast and published the names by the evening of Tuesday, December 11th, between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. You may access the published reports by selecting these links: link to WALA-TV's reports and link to WPMI-TV's reports)
