An early indication of a worthwhile coaching change, Ashley Wagner's win at the Glacier Falls Summer Classic this weekend perhaps signals a new chapter in her career as this fall's Grand Prix series are on the horizon. The surprise of the event was 2010 U.S. Novice champ Leah Keiser, who won the free skate and leap-frogged over two-time U.S. champion Mirai Nagasu to take second. Glacier Falls is a preseason club competition that is a tune-up for the new season.

Wagner showed off her new elegant free skate to Swan Lake and showed a solid set of jumps to earn a 108.73 in the free skate, just a quarter-point below Keiser's 108.97. But Wagner was able to hold onto her lead after the short to take the title.
Reigning U.S. junior champion Courtney Hicks had the most difficult technical content in the competition, attempting both a quad salchow and a triple flip-triple loop combination. But the salchow and the backend loop were both underrotated. She finished in third, just ahead of Nagasu, who underrotated a few jumps and took fourth.
On the men's side, there was quite a bit of movement after the short program. And in the end, it was Douglas Razzano who pulled up from third after the short to win the event. Jason Brown, fifth after the short, moved up to second. And overnight leader, Max Aaron, finished third.
