Taco Bell is going to jump into the "Fast Food Breakfast Wars," and their big weapon is going to be the Waffle Taco. CBS News reported on Feb. 24, 2014, that Taco Bell introduced the Waffle Taco as just one of their new breakfast items that will be coming out so they can compete with McDonald's, and another big start is that breakfast will be available until 11:00 a.m.
That's a full half-hour later than McDonald's offers theirs.
Taco Bell made the official announcement on their Twitter on Monday as well:
"It's true. Beginning March 27th we are bringing breakfast to America. For the next 30 min, we're answering questions. Use #TacoBellBreakfast"
The Waffle Taco is an egg, cheese, and sausage combination that is rolled up into a waffle that is taco-shaped. It debuted in a limited capacity last year, and it appears to have been popular enough to bring it back.
Taco Bell's breakfast will also feature the A.M. Crunchwrap which is a tortilla filled with cheese, eggs, meat, and a hashbrown.
With Taco Bell offering their Waffle Taco and other breakfast options for a longer period of time each morning, it is possible that McDonald's could end up looking to do the same. It is only a matter of time until a new competitor joins the fast food breakfast fight.
