Waffle House closes Rogers Ave location, seeks to move elswhere in city

A month ago, the Waffle House on Rogers Avenue closed its doors unexpectedly. Many people thought that this location to the popular chain was saying “Goodbye.” As it turns out, the restaurant was just saying “See you at my new home.”

The Waffle House on Rogers Avenue was one of the most popular restaurants on what is commonly referred to as “Restaurant Row” and it was easy to see why. The restaurant was located less than a block away from the on ramp to I-540 making it a favorite stop for residents and tourists alike. However its popularity may have been a curse as well as a blessing. Waffle House's lease to the property was up for renewal at the beginning of the year, and the owners of the property that the restaurant sat on decided to ask for more money. Waffle House refused and decided it was best to close that location and move on.

When the Rogers Avenue location closed, it was never meant to be a permanent thing. The owners of the area Waffle Houses are presently looking for new locations, preferably on Towson Road or Garrison Avenue to move the restaurant to. While there is not a set time for Waffle House to reopen the restaurant, tentative plans have been made for summer. Those who are still craving the delicious comfort foods that Waffle House makes may visit the locations at 9009 Highway 71 South Fort Smith, Ark or 1705 Fayetteville Road Van Buren, Ark.
