The Wadsworth Atheneum is a museum in Hartford that offers tours for children and adults. A qualified tour guide will walk the group through the museum giving highlights of history and focusing on certain pieces. For adults there is a tour called Highlight of the Collection that focuses on some of the old masters and newer works. The Hudson River Valley Collection focuses on the landscape art that depicts the American landscape. Tours can be customized for groups and organizations depending on the interests. The Historic Hartford Tour let's visitors visit three sites for $25 the Mark Twain House, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, and Wadsworth. It a good trip for the entire day.

There are special guided tours aimed at college students and younger children. Many of the school guided tours are during the school years. Some of the themes of the tours are Connecticut People and Places , Connecticut Art, and American Art. Tours guides are trained and know the history of the pieces they discuss and interesting historical facts. Often it is an experience to learn to look at the same art with a new perspective. Overall the museum has a large collection of American Art and American Decorative Art which is furniture and other accessories. They have contemporary art, Colt Firearms, costumes and textiles, European Art, Decorative Art and The Hudson River School. Admission is $10 for adults, student 13 and up $5, and children 12 and under are free. It has a museum cafe open Wednesday thru Sunday for late breakfast and lunch. Don't forget to stop at the Museum Shop a gift shop with books, toys and other gifts.

The Wadsworth Atheneum is a great place to take a tour or go with friends and family. Stop by this spring or summer for a educational experience.
