Wabi Sabi even the Joneses are tired of keeping up with the Joneses

Christmas time is generally not known in America for its Wabi Sabi character, in fact, it’s the opposite. The bigger, the overabundance of, the more, the better. If you are trying to get into the Zen of Wabi Sabi now is a good time to take back your home and simplify it.

After all there’s no such thing as a whole lot of Wabi Sabi

Simply said minimalism is more. It makes your brain stop hurting just thinking about, poof the stress is gone. If there is too much of anything, yard-sale it out. Beauty in imperfections yes, but not in the clutter or the hoarding. Wabi Sabi style doesn’t necessarily mean you have one room you shove the whole house into just to make the rest of it look “minimal.” “Minimal is as minimal does.” If you haven’t worn it, played with it or even admired it in the past year, to the drive or grass sale it goes.

It is it fatiguing you to look, think or feel of it

Refreshed is the theme for the new year. Is it making your tired? If the thought the “worrying of dusting it” is an issue, just give it away or take it to the grass. Like that great George Strait song, “Just give it away.” Pack the holiday decorations away and take down the tree by the end of this month at the latest. What did the holidays really mean to you? Did you know that more heart attacks occur between Thanksgiving and New Year’s more than any other time of the year?

Change your life

If you are thinking about it, you are supposed to be losing one pound a week, get a new hairdo, exercising, cleaning, cooking, working, driving the kids, raising the kids, helping your neighbors and meditating. This year let’s make a gentle resolution to scale down the image and the lifestyle that goes with it.

You aren’t the only one that is tired of keeping up with the Joneses. Even the Joneses are tired of keeping up with the Joneses. Hyacinth Bucket, pronounced "Bou-quet" in the television show "Keeping Up Appearances," runs her tail off trying to hopelessly impress the social ladder. Little does Hyacinth know the rest are not impressed, that she is obsessively houseproud and snobbish to prove it.

The psychological benefits

Changing lifelong unhealthy patterns and old programming. ‘Nough said. It feels better already just saying it, now gently do it. Coming back to simple health and wellness, body mind and soul. More craziness, overscheduling and stress is simply uncalled for. We are talking a whole-term fix. Whatever works, but doesn’t make you feel like that little yellow pill will always be there when you need it. Dump that someplace safely too, so they don’t end up in the water supply, or in your teenagers’ pocket.
