Some pests are invited; but pestilence is uninvited.
In Southwest Florida, vultures, or big doofy vulture-like birds, climb all over my roof in search of food in the empty lots next to my home. Don't get me wrong, I love animals--my dogs, my cat, my birds, and my fish, not to mention my daughter's snake, are invited 'pests,' which I put up with out of a large sense of duty, and a small bit of affection.
The birds on my roof--is ridding them part of my Second Amendment rights?
Similarly, in our every day lives, some pestilence comes uninvited, and some is invited. The invited pestilence is our sin. Our addictions (actually, all sinful habits) are invited pests, destroying the harvest of our spiritual life in Jesus Christ.
And one of the greatest of the 'addictions' is a dependent laziness!
"When David saw the angel who was striking the people,
he said to the LORD: 'It is I who have sinned;
it is I, the shepherd, who have done wrong.
But these are sheep; what have they done?
Punish me and my kindred.'” 2 Samuel 24:2, 9-17
Oh, how I wish we had leaders like David.
Our leaders, however, not only bring the pestilence upon us, they produce the environment in which it flourishes. Recent revelations reveal that Obamacare will offer millions of people the 'choice' to work less, while profiting more, through better health coverage and lower premiums. This sounds like the devil's enticement. Democrats, and the Obama administration, offer, either, full time work--with higher health care premiums, or part time work with the perks of Obamacare incentives.
Basically, a nation with the lowest workforce participation in over 35 years, with an explosion of food-stamp recipients, is now being enticed to sit on their ass and reap the benefits of being vultures, and climbing all over other people's roof's, uninvited, while purging themselves on other people's hard earned money.
America is the carcass, the Democrats are the architect, and the lazy 'legion' are the pestilent vultures.
"Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
my guilt I covered not.
I said, 'I confess my faults to the LORD,'
and you took away the guilt of my sin." Psalm 32:1-2, 5-7
The welfare state is perverted justice.
It is the devil's parody of God's Infinite Mercy. It utilizes the righteousness of the welfare safety net, for hard times--for those who truly need it--and turns it into the shackles of slavery, which many a lazy person dives into head first with joy. It is no coincidence that the architects of entitlement are also the architects of legalized marijuana, legalized abortion (and euthanasia), and legalized gay 'marriage.' For a society loosened from traditional morals, and patriotic responsibility, in a willy-nilly party like atmosphere, is most docile to the manipulations of its masters.
Repentance, and confession (to include a life-conversion), of the Christian sort, is the only key to unlock the self-accepted shackles of the architects of the culture of death (entitlement, immorality, relativism, secularism, socialism, anarchism).
"'Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary...' And they took offense at him. Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.' So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith." Mark 6:1-6
As a carpenter, Jesus was well aware of the dignity, and necessity, of work.
Jesus also knew, all too well, that familiarity breeds contempt. American's have become all too familiar with their Judaeo-Christian heritage--and they find it contemptible. Because of this, the grace that comes from the mouths of prophets in our midst is ignored...or mocked. Just watch TV, or a Hollywood movie. The cries of the innocent are muffled in political correctness. Just check the abortions that continue. And the power of the presence of our Shepherds--Bishops, priests, and religious--is damaged by sex scandals (a product of the architects efforts, and the faithful's gullibility), and by an all out propaganda blitz aimed at diminishing the Church of the Living Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
We know the architects have no faith. They have, furthermore, the anti-faith of demons--knowing all to well the power in Jesus to crush their dictatorship. We also know the weak minded vultures--those who become entitled minions of the architects--are colder than lukewarm, and need our evangelization now!
But, do we realize that all this is true because of our lukewarm Christianity?
