Voyage's End is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed Aug. 31, 2013 during the PAX Prime "Magic" party. Featured in Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set, this blue common can help you survive a deadly attacker and gain valuable time to turn things around in your favor.
Voyage's End - 1U
Instant (Common)
Return target creature to its owner's hand. Scry 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put that card on the bottom of your library.)
Philosophers say those lost at sea ascended to a more perfect realm. Sailors say they drowned.
If there's one thing that blue generally lacks, it's decent creature removal. Sure, blue players get interesting tricks like Turn to Frog and Rapid Hybridization, however there aren't any cards that allow players to destroy permanents unconditionally or without a significant drawback. While there have been multiple Unsummon variants throughout the game's history, not many of them help dig through your deck at such a low cost. Most importantly, Voyage's End is an instant unlike Silent Departure, allowing you to use it during combat.
Voyage's End could be a game-breaking card in limited. If your opponent's tapped out, they'll need to wait until next turn to recast their creature - potentially giving you a two turn reprieve. With scry returning on Voyage's End and Read the Bones, there's some potential for Duskmantle Seer to shine in Standard.
How will you use Voyage's End?
