Vote for who should be on the cover of MLB 13: The Show

If you're a fan of Major League Baseball and video games, then you've probably played or at least heard of the MLB: The Show franchise of video games. Voting for the cover began on Monday, and you're about to find out how you can get involved.

If you're in the minority that have not played or maybe not even heard of the game, MLB: The Show is a series found on the PlayStation Network, with an annual game. A different player has been featured on the cover every year since its inception in 2006. That is, execpt for 2010-11. Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer graced the cover of consecutive games.

The game features realistic graphics and gameplay, as fans are able to play as their favorite teams and players, and even create a future legend in the series-exlcusive "Road To The Show" feature. There, players must battle through the Minor Leagues to earn their spot on a team's MLB roster.

Much like the NFL's Madden games, fans have a chance to vote on who they would like to see featured on the cover. This year's version, MLB 13: The Show, is scheduled for release on March 5. There are seven players available for you to vote for, and they are listed below:

  • Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers
  • CC Sabathia, New York Yankees
  • Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals
  • Buster Posey, San Francisco Giants
  • Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers

Voting, which started on Monday, will run THIS WEEK only. You can click HERE for the official ballot at MLB.com. The winner will be announced on Friday, so you only have a couple of days left to get your vote in.

You can also follow the MLB Examiner on Facebook, and cast your vote for the same poll. A discussion will also be available if you want to voice your opinion on who should be this year's cover winner.

This year's edition will be released on the PlayStation 3 console as well as Sony's new PlayStation Vita. It will retail for $59.99, and you can pre-order it now at most retailers.
