Volvo is voluntarily recalling nearly 8,000 2014 S60, S80, XC60 and XC70 models that are equipped with keyless ignition to fix the central electronic module in the cars and crossovers after a glitch was found which could cause their windshield wipers to run continuously while the car is on. In addition the company noted that headlight switches, high beams and turn signals might not function correctly, as well as the fact that the low beams fail to shut off, which can cause the battery to drain.
Owners affected by the recall will be notified by mail or e-mail. Volvo dealers will inspect and upgrade the software free of charge.
