The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office asked Seminole and Volusia County residents this weekend “…to be observant and immediately contact law enforcement if [you] see anything that appears suspicious.” The request came as authorities continue the search for the bodies of a missing Deltona mother and her two children. Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesperson Gary Davidson said investigators and the Sheriff’s Office helicopter have searched several locations for the remains of the family members, and they have also continued interviews with the woman’s husband, 31-year old Luis Toledo. The Sheriff’s Office says Toledo is a “…person of interest…” in the case, and that he remains in custody on a battery charge from a domestic violence incident with the mother in Lake Mary Tuesday. They note that no charges have been filed in the case of the missing mother, 28-year old Yessenia Suarez, and her 8-year old son and 9-year old daughter. Sheriff’s deputies also remained on the scene outside the Deltona home of the missing mother and children Friday. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Seminole County Sheriff's Office are also assisting in the search.
Suarez and her children have not been seen since the domestic violence incident in Lake Mary Tuesday night. Suarez’ family asked the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office to check on their welfare Wednesday morning. Volusia County deputies did not find the woman and her children at their Deltona home Wednesday, but they did arrest Toledo on the Lake Mary Police Department battery charge when he stopped by the residence while deputies were there. Also, one of Suarez’ cars was found at the home, and her other car was discovered at a Publix parking lot in Lake Mary Wednesday.
