The drowning of a four-year old boy in Deltona Sunday is being investigated by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to a home on South Fairbairn Drive at 4:19 Sunday afternoon, according to Sheriff’s spokesperson Gary Davidson. When deputies arrived four minutes later, they found the boy’s mother with the child on the pool deck administering CPR. Deputies took over the resuscitation efforts, followed by paramedics who arrived a minute later, and the boy was transported to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. The boy, however, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:06 p.m.

Davidson says the mother told deputies she fell asleep, but after waking up started to search for her son, and found him on the pool bottom.
