Summer is the perfect time to volunteer and help out others in need. This is the perfect opportunity for students to take some time out of their summer vacation and volunteer at a local Orlando organization. These opportunities offer great references and volunteer hours for students who live or are just visiting the Orlando area.

There are so many great organizations in the Orlando area that are always welcoming volunteers to help out. You can volunteer as little or as much as you like. These organizations operate year round and are always looking for help.

Second Harvest Food Bank

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida helps feed those in need with the help of more than 7,500 volunteers. Volunteer opportunities in the Orlando area in include working in the Food Rescue Center on Mercy Drive. Duties at the rescue center include food sorting, office work, food drive sponsors and special event volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity in the Orlando area helps build homes for those in need. Help is needed with building homes, landscaping, moving, office work and in the resale store. Volunteers must be 16 years old for construction or office work and 18 years old to work at ReStore's. Opportunities are listed at the main office, on the website or you can call to get from the volunteer office.

Heart of Florida United Way

United Way of Central Florida helps organizations in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties through matching volunteers with not-for-profit organizations. Volunteer opportunities can include working with children, the elderly, answering phones or doing basic office work.

Hands On
