Volunteering maybe the way out of the blues

Caregiver’s if you are now not providing care of someone and at loose ends, try volunteering. One place you may find a need with our population getting older and needing to have medical options which require someone in the home or opt for nursing home care.

Many people will opt for in home care and due to the shortened commitment the current agencies will not be as eager to jump in. Where someone may need 1-5 days, agencies may require a month of care to provide support for the client. A nursing home stay for 1 to 5 days is going to cost upwards of $2000.00, for all this person will need. So, short stay or in home care is looking good.

If you are interested in this kind of work or volunteering, you will find yourself in demand. Especially if you have no demands at your home; and you could make a little money on the side. You will find it most beneficial to get yourself bonded and have a background check done. Background checks can be done through local law enforcement and bonding can be done through your insurance agent.

This is not a way to become wealthy. You will find your heart is fulfilled many times over. Be sure to take time for yourself; and recharge your batteries. This is a great way to get yourself out and about, keep activity in your life and bring good to someone less fortunate. Set a schedule for yourself and do not vary from that schedule, as shift work is hard on young bodies, imagine how difficult it is for someone in their 50’s or 60’s.

You can even cut down on those you will help by limiting it to the people who attend your church, your senior center or you’re Red Hat Ladies. In other words you have a lot to offer and you can chose to share that if you want.
