 Whether you are in a career transition or not, volunteering at your professional association can provide a real boost to your career.  You will stay out in front of the curve with industry trends, have lots of opportunities to network, give back to your professional community, expand your leadership skills, and build your resume.  American Society for Training and Development has several opportunities for you to take advantage of.  We are focusing on three roles for the Career Development Specific Interest Group (SIG).  The job descriptions follow:


Career Development SIG Volunteer Opportunities

The Career Development SIG has current openings for three key positions. As we hear repeatedly, SIGs and GIGs are the heartbeat of the chapter and one of the main venues from which to provide value to our membership. In order to accomplish the goals of the Career Development SIG, we need to have a committed support team in place. Please review the roles and responsibilities below and determine your best fit. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and the only way to sustain the continued success of the chapter, so get plugged in!

• Attends the SIG meetings and committee meetings
• Creates, updates and e-mails the interested list of members for each event
• Keeps track of RSVP for the event
• Help with food, beverage and ice for the event as needed

• Attends the SIG meetings and committee meetings
• Greets people before event and ensures they sign in
• Collects money for event
• Coordinate food, beverage and ice for the event

• Attends the SIG meetings and committee meetings
• Promotes event on various websites
• Gets a sponsor for the SIG event
• Sets up table for the sponsor at the SIG meeting
• Has ASTD brochures on hand to promote our chapter
• Calls people to personally invite – may or may not be with ASTD
• Help with food, beverage and ice for the event as needed
