The effects of winter’s consistently overcast days can cause depression and hibernation for many individuals; yet studies show volunteering can lift spirits and energize people. Besides, who can resist chasing around some active new kittens or petting a soft, purring feline?
Networking, building new skills and making new friendships are also good reasons to volunteer. The Indianapolis and surrounding areas have several nonprofit organizations that need volunteers who have a passion for helping cats. Fundraising, office support, animal transportation and grooming are just a few choices for those who would like to make a difference in the pet community.
