Many of you are already aware of breast cancer awareness events that take place in October each year (which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month), however, February will see the return of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in El Paso. This year marks the 18th annual event that takes place on the third Sunday in February and will kick off the 2011 fundraising season for breast cancer awareness.
On February 21, 2010 you can join the cause by attending the event. Volunteer opportunities are also available. There is a form available online at the Komen El Paso website. Past races in El Paso have raised funds for local recipients including: El Paso Baptist Clinic, La Clinica Guadalupana, Texas Tech University Breast Care Center, and more.
El Paso’s goal is to have 15,000 participants this year. There is still time to participate.
Susan G Komen foundation offers a helpline dedicated to providing timely and accurate information to anyone with breast health and breast cancer concerns, including breast cancer patients and their family and friends. *Note: they do not give out medical advice or make referrals to physicians.
