Volunteer for the Friends of the Humane Society without leaving your home

Would you like to help the animals at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton without leaving your own home? Even if you are unable to foster or otherwise perform hands-on volunteer work, you can still help the abandoned pets at the Humane Society. The Friends of the Humane Society are in need of volunteers for baking their pet treats for the Animal Snackers Bakery in the 2nd Street Market at 600 E. Second Street. The Animal Snackers Bakery is the main fundraiser for the Friends of the Humane Society, an organization which supports the efforts of the Humane Society in caring for abandoned animals in our area. FOHS will supply the recipes for the treats (these recipes must be used, for the sake of consistency) and you can get started right away, baking gourmet pet treats for the bakery!

If you are not into baking, how about sewing some simple bandannas or some simple fabric cat toys? Perhaps you would enjoy working at the bakery booth itself, selling the great treats and toys? You can make such a difference by volunteering 3 hours just once or twice a month selling treats at the bakery. The volunteer work at the bakery shop is done in shifts, and this author will vouch that the work is not difficult but it IS vitally important to the group’s mission.

For more information about these and other volunteer opportunities, please send an email to and put FOHS as the subject line; someone will get back to you within a day or two.

Volunteering your time at the Animals Snackers Bakery makes a huge difference in the lives of the homeless shelter pets.
