Volbeat announces signing of ex-Anthrax guitarist

Volbeat has announced that ex-Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano has become the metal band’s new guitarist.

According to an article posted today at ClassicRock.com, Caggiano, who had been producing the Danish rockers’ soon-to-be-released studio album, has made the leap to fulltime bandmember and will perform on the group’s upcoming tour of Canada and the U.S.

Caggiano expressed his surprise at being asked to join, saying, “When the guys asked me if I was interested in joining Volbeat my jaw just about hit the floor. It didn’t take me long to decide.”

The veteran guitarist announced his departure from Anthrax last month, stating he wished to focus on studio production work.

Touring in support of their upcoming release "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies," which hits shelves on April 8, Volbeat kicks off its North American leg on Feb. 24 in Dallas, Texas at Palladium Ballroom.

Their Canadian run begins on March 24 in Calgary, AB at MacEwan Hall Ballroom and wraps up April 7 in Toronto at Sound Academy.

See Volbeat’s official website for a full list of dates and details.
