Voices for Animals volunteer opportunity Saturday

If you're looking for a great way to participate in the 27 Random Acts of Kindness movement born from the tragedy of the Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newton Connecticut, I can't think of a better way to begin honoring all those innocent lives than by participating in the rescue and improvement of the lives of some of our most innocent: America's lost, unwanted, and abandoned pets.

From Julie Falconer a, Board Member at Voices for Animals in Charlottesville

Help Community Cats! Get involved with a progressive spay/neuter program that is working to end cat overpopulation and help existing feral, outdoor, or "community" cats lead healthier, safer, nonbreeding lives. Voices for Animals next open volunteer meeting will be held on Sat., Jan. 12, from 1:30-3pm, at Charlottesville's public library on E Market St, upstairs Madison Room. (Volunteer meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month.)

Voices for Animals works to help community cats in Central Virginia, and reduce euthanasia in area shelters, through a trap-neuter-return spay/neuter and vaccination program targeting feral or community cats. In 2012, more than 1,200 cats were spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and given other medical care through our all-volunteer program. Volunteer opportunities are available for people who want to do hands-on work with cats as well as administrative tasks, tabling, and fundraising. Visit voicesforanimals.org for more info.

Please consider joining the 27 Random Acts of Kindness movement by volunteering, whether it's with Voices for Animals or your own favorite organization. Visit the 27 Random Acts of Kindness page on Facebook for more inspiration.

Read here why this program is vitally important to the health and well-being of all our cats, yours, mine and the wild ones.

Please consider sharing this and other articles like it with friends, neighbors and family. Get involved, be a hero, change a life.
