The Stage was set, sound check completed, and fans came in droves. Cassadee Pope, season 3 winner of “The Voice” came to Wal-Mart and packed in the crowd for her cd debut signing. The vibrant, young country singer with tattoos, to the latest look, and a voice like no other hit the stage smiling. She covers the gamut of different types of people from all walks of life. Old, young, black, white, Hispanic, it doesn’t matter. Go to a Cassadee Pope concert and you’ll see everyone there.
She sang three of her tops songs as crowd cheered and sang along with her. This was just one stop on a tour with Wal-Mart that would bring her close to the fans she adores. She sang three songs before signing cd’s for the crowd. The first “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart,” got the crowd moving and singing along with her. She also sang My Champagne and spoke about the Vevo contest her fans where voting in. She thanked them many times throughout the night and spoke heart to heart with them. Her beautiful voice and wonderful attitude was all they wanted.
She wasn’t afraid to speak about her life either. She spoke about being a child of divorce and how her music has gotten her through. She sang her hit song “11” which chronicled her life at that age and dealing with divorce and the fear that goes through you. Even her tattoos have a personal meaning, one for her pop-pop, and another for the tour “Believers Never Die,” she was on with the band, Fall Out Boy.
I spoke with her after the show and she is truly the person her fans believe her to be. She is smart, funny, humbled, and thankful. She has only ever wanted to be in the music industry and can’t have pictured herself anywhere where. “I would be writing songs for other artists if I hadn’t won the voice or had been this successful as a singer. I have only ever wanted to be in music.”
When I asked her what was the one thing she really wants her fans to know about her, she smiled and answered, “My fans help me.” She closed the mini concert with “Wasted Tears on You,” with the crowd singing in unison.
