Vogue editor says Kim Kardashian has 'strength of character'

Vogue magazine's editor in chief Anna Wintour defended the decision to feature Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of the April issue, denying the rumor that West had petitioned them to feature his wife. According to a March 21 story on New York Daily News, Wintour described Kanye West as being "an amazing performer" and Kardashian as having "strength of character," a description not often used in reference to the provocative reality star.

"There’s barely a strand of the modern media that the Kardashian Wests haven’t been able to master, and for good reason: Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world’s spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that," she added, complimenting the brunette beauty.

The cover photo was shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz, and it featured Kardashian wearing a wedding-style gown by Lavin. West is wearing a blazer by Saint Laurent. You can view more photos from the Kim Kardashian Vogue cover photo shoot here.

According to the Associated Press, Kanye West had previously described his fiancée as having more fashion influence than Michelle Obama.

Kim Kardashian has described the experience of her first Vogue cover as a dream come true. That may be so, but describing her as having “strength of character” seems more like a figment of someone’s imagination.
