Vodka cocktails: Apricot Smoothie, Blue Kamikaze and Jamaican Sunrise (Video)

Each month in 2013 we will be featuring a different spirit and cocktails that include that particular ingredient as its cornerstone. The featured spirit for January is the all-to-versatile vodka.

Vodka is a distilled beverage made of water and ethanol with small parts of impurities and flavorings. Vodka is made by distilling fermented substances like grains, potatoes, and at times fruits or sugar.

Today's features include the Apricot Smoothie, Blue Kamikaze and Jamaican Sunrise.

Apricot Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Apricot brandy
  • 1 oz Vodka
  • Fill 1/2 glass Champagne
  • Fill 1/2 glass Orange juice

Mixing instructions:

Mix all ingrediants over ice. Seven-Up may be used instead of champagne to cut alcohol content if so desired.

Blue Kamikaze

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • Fill with Ice cubes

Mixing instructions:

Combine the Vodka, Blue Curacao, and Lime Juice in a glass with ice. Shake well, then pour through a strainer into a normal glass with ice in it. Makes 1

Jamaican Sunrise

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 2 oz Peach schnapps
  • 4 1/2 oz Orange juice
  • 1 oz Cranberry juice

Mixing instructions:

Poor Vodka, Peach Schnapps, and Orange juice in glass and be sure to mix them well. Then add the Cranberry and let it sit at the top of the glass.
