San Jose, CA (October 31) -- The recently concluded 3rd Annual Career Technical Education (CTE) Conference held at the Santa Clara County Office of Education emphasized the need for a perfect match between what is being taught in the classrooms and what is being applied in the workplace.
California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson and Harvard Pathways to Prosperity Project Manager William Symonds addressed the more than 250 school administrators, teachers, counselors, and business partners who attended the CTE Conference last week.
The attendees put together technical skills students need to work in the classroom and ways to connect them to on-the-job training and career education programs.
Organizers ae now putting together the output of the conference on how to engage students and keep them in school; what school districts can do to provide relevant curriculum and training for the 21st century workplace; and partnerships with colleges and businesses.
Both speakers are experts and strong proponents of career technical education in California schools.
Meanwhile, the Santa Clara Office of Education also conducted a public hearing on redistricting plans for trustee areas of the Santa Clara Board of Education lately.
The trustee areas were assessed and potentially adjusted in order to meet legally required population criteria. Inputs from the public will be assessed, evaluated, and included in the redistricting plan.
