The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards aired Sunday night with less than shocking red carpet looks, which the event is renowned for. For 30 years artists have stunned and bewildered music fans at the VMAs, however, except for a few barely there designer gowns, the awards show was surprisingly lame/tame with sleek and sexy as the hair trend of the night.
Waves, texture and tousled hair might be the hottest hair trend for back to school, but it wasn’t evident at the 2014 VMAs. Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Jordin Sparks, Sarah Hyland and Jennifer Lopez, all seen in the attached slideshow, rocked the Video Music Awards sleek and sexy hair trend.
“Black Widow” artists Rita Ora, 23, and Iggy Azalea, 24, walked the VMAs red carpet with similar blonde bombshell looks; slicked back locks with a little height, although Rita opted for a platinum bob wig for the duo’s performance. Ora teased her “Black Widow” red mani, which complemented her red gown, on Instagram prior to the show. Rita topped off her glam look with bright red lips and slicked back hair. The hair trend was popular a few years back, and there have been many starlets that have attempted to rock the celebrity hairstyle, but none did it quite as well as Ora and Azalea.
The 24-year-old “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks joined “Modern Family’s” Sarah Hyland, 23, with more subdued versions of the VMAs hair trend, center part, pulled back sleek hairstyles, whereas the stunning Jennifer Lopez, 45, let her highlighted locks all down. To achieve these sleek and sexy looks, the proper hair care products are necessary. Maintain porosity control with White Sands Porosity the Fix, and have an instant Keratin Treatment with La Brasiliana’s Dieci All-in-One Instant Treatment. Add shine with La Brasiliana’s Tre Define and Shine Serum, before and after flat ironing. For flawlessly straight hair, take small sections and don’t tug on the hair.
To get Rita Ora’s and Iggy Azalea’s VMAs hair, tease the top portion for a touch of height and then smooth back. You might have to strategically place a bobby pin behind the ear to hold the sides back. Finish the look with a strong hairspray and you are ready for the red carpet.
