Studio Ghibli’s “My Neighbor Totoro” is one of their most popular and beloved anime classics and this year it will be celebrating its 25th anniversary; in honor of that Viz Media announced yesterday that they will be releasing two new titles related to the film this fall, “My Neighbor Totoro: A Novel” and “My Neighbor Totoro Picture Book” New Edition.
“My Neighbor Totoro: A Novel”, due out Oct. 1, 2013 is a hardcover version that will have a price tag of $17.99. The novel will feature a retelling of the Hayao Miyazaki created animated classic by Tsugiko Kubo complete with original watercolor illustrations by Miyazaki himself.
The “My Neighbor Totoro Picture Book” will be available on Oct. 1, 2013 as well and will have a price tag of $19.99. The full-color book features a new cover design and takes artwork directly from the movie, allowing children and parents to relive the classic story with scene-by-scene illustrations and character dialog.
Both titles will be published under Viz Media’s Studio Ghibli Library imprint. “My Neighbor Totoro” will also be getting a 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition later this year.
