The two Brazilian legends might go head-to-head because Machida finished Mark Munoz with an epic head kick at UFC Fight Night 30. Machida's win puts him in excellent position in the UFC's middleweight division, so Belfort could be a great next step for him.
"It was huge. Huge," White told MMAjunkie.com of Machida's win over Munoz. "I think, and I'm just talking here as a fan, not as a promoter, I think a lot of people want to see him and Vitor Belfort. That would be a fun fight. Vitor's got to win down in Brazil. And who knows – (Machida) could fight someone else before that. But I'm just saying, as a fan, and speaking for many fans, that's the fight they want to see. At least that's what everyone was screaming at me on the way out of the arena tonight."
Rumor had it that Michael Bisping would fight the winner of Munoz vs Machida, but White insists the British brawler will be out longer than expected. With Bisping out for half a year, a fight against Machida seems unlikely.
"I love Mike Bisping, but here's the thing – he's out for six months," White said. "Have you seen his eye? His eye is a mess. So he's going to be out for a while. What he believes and what the doctor believes are two different things. When he becomes a doctor, then I'll start listening to what he believes about his eye." So while it appears Machida has some options being floated around, it will be a wait-and-see proposition for who he'll get next."
In an interesting twist, Gegard Mousasi came out of nowhere after UFC Fight Night 30 with an epic call-out of Machida.
"I want to make an impact in MW division and fight Machida!" he wrote in a tweet directed at MMAjunkie.com and other media outlets, as well as White.
As for White, he had some other thoughts on UFC Fight Night 30. The UFC boss thinks the fight between Rosi Sexton and Jessica Andrade should have been stopped because of how one-sided it was.
"I agree 100 percent that fight should have been stopped," White said of Andrade's win, which took place on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 30 at Phones4u Arena in Manchester, England. "It's a fight like that that made me not like women's MMA, actually. I saw a very one-sided, mismatched fight (previously).
"It's one of those fights that looked good on paper, and then in reality it was a horrible, one-sided mismatch," he said. "And it should have been stopped. I said what we should do is bring the ref out in the hallway and let someone punch him in the face for 15 minutes, and nobody jump in to help him, just to see what it feels like."
