I wanted to try making my own green smoothie since the beginning of the year, when it seemed like everyone was posting recipes for healthy smoothies to get you on track for the new year. The beauty of the green smoothie is that it packs in all the vegetables and fruits you need into a convenient drink. The best part is that even though there is tons of spinach, you can’t taste it!
This smoothie recipe is easily customized to your favorite fruits. I love the combination of strawberry and orange, but I’m not a fan of kale so I substituted spinach. I was pleasantly surprised that even my husband enjoyed the green smoothie. One thing to note, I recently read that green smoothies should be eaten more as a treat than your everyday way to get your fruits and vegetables since blending them takes out a lot of the nutrients and you aren’t burning as many calories as you would if you had to chew.
