Vita getting a price cut in Japan on Feb. 28 (Photos)

Late last night, or early this morning, depending on how you look at it, Sony made an announcement about the future of the PlayStation Vita in Japan. The announcement was at 3AM Eastern Time, on Feb. 18, 2013, and was broadcast completely in Japanese. The system will be receiving a price cut, the new price for both the wi-fi and 3g versions being 19,980 Yen, which translates to about $215. This price is much cheaper than it is here in the states, but unfortunately there’s been no word on whether this price drop is coming to the US. Also in the announcement, Sony revealed that the Vita will be getting a new “ice silver” color in Japan. Both the price drop and the “ice silver” color will be available on Feb. 28.

Sony also revealed a couple of other colors for the Vita, but they won’t be available until Nov. 15, 2013. The new colors are “Cosmic Red” and “Sapphire Blue”, as well as a “Japan only” bundle of a “Cosmic Red” Vita with the game “Soul Sacrifice” that has a cool red and black design on the rear touchpad.
