A visit to the Richmond All America Rose Garden in Indiana during the summer is a real delight if you love flowers. The roses are in bloom and the smell of roses is drifting through the air. The garden is located at Glen Miller Park, which itself is a nice place to visit.. The Rose Garden is located at 2500 National Road. E. (US 40) in Richmond, Indiana, only 2 1/4 miles off Interstate 70. The garden is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Indianapolis following I-70 to the Richmond exit, making it a delightful day trip.
The All America Garden has more than 1600 rose bushes, hundreds of colorful annuals and perennials. There is a beautiful fountain and a lovely Victorian Gazebo located in the garden which can be rented for special events by calling (763) 983-7275.
The Richmond Rose Garden has earned the distinction of being designated an All America Rose Display Garden by the A.A.R.S. (All American Rose Selection Board). It is one of only 130 rose gardens to receive this honor and annually receives a selection of new All America Rose varieties approved by the A.A.R.S.
Parking is available right next to the garden, so little walking is required except in the garden. The garden is wheelchair accessible. Benches are located throughout the rose garden for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful displays.
The best times to visit are in June and September when the roses are in their peak blooms, though roses can be seen all summer. The garden is open 365 days a year. There is no admission charge. Restrooms are available in the Glen Miller Park concession building.
The Glen Miller Park where the garden is located has many nice walking trails and lots of picnic areas. It would be a nice place to have a picnic before or after you visit the gardens.
