When visiting Charleston, South Carolina there are a variety of historical places to visit. One of the oldest and most recognized historical places is Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens.

Boone Hall Plantation is located on the Banks of Wampacheone Creek in Mt Pleasant, SC. This places it eight miles from the Historical Downtown Charleston. The plantation was founded in 1681 by Englishman Major John Boone and his family. In the year of 1955 the McRae family purchased the plantation and opened it to the public in 1956. Today the plantation is 333 years of history.

Boone Hall offers special events throughout the year to showcase the history of the plantation and to educate its’ visitors. Some of the events include the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival, Southern Living Taste of Charleston, The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch, Boone Hall Fright Nights, Wine under the Oaks, Boone Hall Plantation Christmas and the Lowcountry Oyster Festival.

Daily tours of the plantation include Black History in American Exhibit, Exploring the Gullah Culture, House Tours, Slave Street and History Presentation, Plantation Coach Tour, Garden Tour and the Butterfly Pavilion. All tours are included with admission.

Boone Hall Plantation hours of operation varies throughout the year. From January 2, 2014 through February 12, 2014 the plantation will be closed for the winter. On February 13, 2014 through March 9, 2014 the plantation will be open to guest Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. From March 10, 2014 through Labor Day 2014 the plantation will be open to guest Monday through Saturday at 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
