April 14th, 1912, 11:40 pm.  The RMS Titanic strikes an iceberg, and in less than 2 1/2 hours, the largest ocean liner of her time sinks beneath the waves.  98 years later, on the anniversary of her sinking, you can visit the RMS Titanic in SL, and relive the grandeur and splendor of what she was.

In one of the most ambitious and extensive projects in SL,  we visited the RMS Titanic and toured the ship.  Located on its own sim, http://slurl.com/secondlife/Titanic/128/191/34  the ocean liner is moored at the docks.  On the hill facing the harbor is the Titanic Memorial site, built to remember the people who lived and died on that fateful day.

Owned and operated by Mara Menges, the ship is a near-perfect recreation of the Titanic, from the bow where DiCaprio and Winslet stood, to the Grand Staircase you can descend to the Ballroom.  You can pose on the bow in the same place and have your picture taken, and add it to the ship's records.

The Titanic was originally built by one man.  Morphius Barbosa, a lifelong fan of Titanic, built it to bring it back to life.  Mara now owns and manages theTitanic, a near-full time job she tells us.  The ship is filled with high end vendor shops, and the ballroom features live music events every day.

As we walked the decks and hallways, we were transported back to a time of luxury and grace.  Barbosa strove for accuracy in his rendition of the Titanic, and the care and time he took is evident.

Today, on the 98th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, Mara Menges hosted a memorial in SL at the Wall of Honor.  The guests included descendents of the passengers and crew of the Titanic.

Mara Menges invites you to come and experience the wonder and beauty that was the Titanic.  You can also join the inworld group RMS Titianic to be kept abreast  of news, events and live shows.

Your berth is waiting.
