Chicago parents searching for free summer fun for kids newly out of school for vacation can visit area Lakeshore Learning Stores each weekend for inexpensive entertainment. Each Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during June 2014, stores will host free craft activities themed for the season. While boys and girls ages 3 and up are provided with all the supplies they need to complete each craft, parents can shop the store's fantastic selection of art supplies, educational toys, and creative materials for combating summer slide and brain drain.

On Saturday, June 7, children will learn how to use paper plates, colorful chenille stems, and collage materials to make a cute and educational ladybug whose spots they can use to practice counting.

On Saturday, June 14, kids can get ready to celebrate Father's Day by making Dad a secret present: a handy and uniquely decorated pencil holder constructed from wooden craft sticks and colorful paint.

On Saturday, June 21, boys and girls can prepare to save their summer memories by using colored paper and cute stickers to put together a journal for recording thoughts about their summers.

On Saturday, June 28, children can try out another summer-themed craft: making and decorating a photograph frame for displaying a picture of a good time they experience this summer.
