Big Pines Lodge is located in Karnack, Texas, near the town of Uncertain. This decades old icon, Caddo Lake’s Big Pines Lodge, reopened in the fall of 2011 after a devastating fire completely destroyed it in 2009. Big Pines is famous for its catfish, regular and jalapeno hushpuppies, and likely the best cole slaw in all of Texas. It is decorated with historical photographs related to Big Pines River and Caddo Lake. The building decor is “rustic cabin” style and includes a bottom floor that can seat 200, a covered outdoor patio, and a party room. The upstairs also seats 200, and the outside porch gives an “ice house” feel.
“Customers can dine or just kick back and have a beer or some wine on the patio,” said General Manager, Kay Carter. The lodge has ten televisions throughout the restaurant, three of which are outside. Visitors may even spot Big Foot, as sightings have been reported here. The lodge also has spots where boaters can simply dock their boat and stop in for a meal or get take-outs like beer and wine from the restaurant. But riders will find that getting there is as much as treat as the mouthwatering vittles served up at Big Pines Lodge. The trek through rural Texas roads to the small town of Uncertain will, no doubt, be memorable.
The Big Pines Lodge welcomes diners Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 to 9 P.M. as well as Friday and Saturday 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. It is closed Monday and Tuesday and there are no reservations taken on Saturday. The physical address is 747 Pine Island Road Karnack, Texas 75661. Telephone at 903-679-3655 or visit their web site. There is plenty of parking for motorcycles and the ride out to the lodge promises to be scenic and memorable.
